Volkswagen AG chief executive Martin Winterkorn has threatened to resign if Porsche AG interferes with the group’s operations, according to Der Spiegel magazine, citing sources.
The report also said that managers at VW unit Audi are worried the brand could be the first affected once Porsche becomes a majority shareholder in the group. Audi is seen as a competitor to Porsche.
Porsche, which owns an about 31 percent shareholding in VW, has said it wants to increase its stake to more than 50 percent this year.
