In qualifying for the third DTM season round at Mugello, Timo Scheider claimed his third pole of the season. In the final seconds, he set the fastest lap time with his Audi A4 DTM. On his fastest lap, the 29-year old drove around the 5.245 kilometres long circuit in Tuscany in 1.43.079 minutes. For Scheider, it is the fifth pole of his DTM career while an Audi A4 DTM is first on the starting grid for the eight time in a row.
Lining up alongside Scheider on the front row of the grid for Sunday’s race will be Mercedes-Benz driver, Jamie Green. With Tom Kristensen and Mattias Ekström, two more Audi drivers are on the second row while Paul di Resta and Bruno Spengler qualified fifth and sixth respectively with their AMG Mercedes C-Classes. Markus Winkelhock (Audi) was the best driver with a year-old car in qualifying at Mugello in eighth place behind DTM record champion Bernd Schneider (Mercedes-Benz). The ARD will be broadcasting the Mugello race live on Sunday from 13.45 h.
