Porsche Cayenne GTS makes its North American debut at the Chicago Auto Show

Porsche will add some spice to the 100th anniversary of the Chicago Auto Show by unveiling the Cayenne GTS to the American public. Already known for exceptional on and off-road prowess, the GTS has been formulated, tested and tweaked to offer the best on-road characteristics of any Cayenne Porsche has ever produced.

The Cayenne GTS features a 405hp 4.8 liter V-8 engine. Based on the same V8 found in the Cayenne S, this more robust powerplant can be coupled either with an automatic Tiptronic S or, for the first time in a Cayenne V8, a six-speed manual transmission for those who want to take full advantage of this new power and suspension package. The GTS gets its cornering prowess from standard 21-inch alloy rims equipped with 295/35 R21 tires and air suspension that features Porsche Active Suspension Management (PASM).

The Cayenne GTS front end is reminiscent of the Cayenne Turbo while the body has a lower stance and a striking new wheel-arch design that complements the new 21-inch rims. The interior boasts redesigned front and rear seats that offer a sportier look and feel with Alcantara to hold both driver and passenger in place during spirited driving.

The 2008 Cayenne GTS goes on sale in February and pricing for this new model is US $69,300.

Leaked Volkswagen Scirocco brochure - debunked

Ok. Again we don’t like to post spy shots, leaks etc. Yes, sometimes they are fun and they get you jazzed.. but sometimes they are just ridiculous.

Hence the latest buzz about this leaked Volkswagen Scirocco brochure… we checked it out and found a hint to the Eos brochure. (we forget where so if you do see it let us know so we can give credit).

and what is with the cover shot… 1/2 a car?

Either way, we pulled the Eos piece and photochopped this together in about 10min.

#1 is the leaked image. #2 is the photochop and #3 is the original Eos page. No, it’s not perfect but damn close..

Best cars: Four Audi models top the list

Best cars: Four Audi models top the list

* Outstanding success in ams reader poll
* Audi A3, A4, A6 and R8 top their classes
* ‘Reader poll is an important indicator for us,’ says Rupert Stadler

Audi has repeated last year’s success in the reader poll of one of Germany’s leading automotive magazines. The readers of auto, motor und sport (ams) magazine placed Audi models in first place in four classes.

‘The reader poll is an important indicator for us. And Audi’s success with ams readers shows us that we’ve got the right products,’ said Rupert Stadler, Chairman of the Board of Management of AUDI AG, upon being presented with the commendation. ‘At the same time, the great results are an incentive for the entire team.’

With four prizes, Audi is once again the most successful brand in the poll. The success of the new Audi R8 sports car, which banished its established competitors from the top ranking, is particularly notable.

The new Audi A4 sedan also made a sensational debut. The car has been applauded by both customers and the media. The combination of state-of-the-art technology, roominess, stylish design and high quality makes the A4 a winner.

The success of the Audi A3 has practically become a habit. Audi’s compact model came top of its class for the fourth time. This model line will receive an attractive new addition in coming months with the introduction of the new A3 Cabriolet.

The Audi A6 was the winner once again among midsize luxury cars. It combines sportiness and elegance with typical Audi flair. Along with the sedan and the Avant, the model portfolio also includes the sporty S6 and the A6 allroad quattro. In coming months the new top model, the RS 6, will be launched.

The ams reader poll also confirms another trend. The TNS Infratest research institute discovered that, if given the opportunity to buy their dream car immediately regardless of cost, every eighth German would go for an Audi. This made Audi one of the top contenders in the study.

AUDI AG develops and produces cars for the premium segment worldwide. The company achieved its twelfth consecutive record year in 2007, with 964,151 cars sold. Audi produces vehicles in Ingolstadt and Neckarsulm (Germany), Györ (Hungary), Changchun (China) and Brussels (Belgium). At the end of 2007, production of the Audi A6 started in Aurangabad, India. The company is active in more than 100 markets worldwide. AUDI AG’s wholly owned subsidiaries include Lamborghini S.p.A. in Sant’Agata Bolognese, Italy, and quattro GmbH in Neckarsulm. Audi employs more than 54,000 people worldwide, including 45,000 in Germany. The brand with the four rings invests more than € 2 billion each year in order to sustain the company’s technological lead embodied in its ‘Vorsprung durch Technik’ slogan. Audi plans to nearly double the number of models in its portfolio by 2015, from the 25 currently on offer to 40.
