Second variant of the space wonder by Volkswagen
Georgeous! Amazing! I want one! Now!

Wolfsburg/Tokyo, , 24 October 2007 - Just six weeks after the world premiere of the two-door city specialist – the up! – at the IAA in Frankfurt, Europe’s largest car producer is now showing the next member of the “New Small Family” – the space up! concept car – at the Tokyo Motor Show.
Being the largest small Volkswagen, the space up! is a small space wonder; on just 3.68 meters length and 1.63 meters width it offers the space of a significantly larger vehicle. The designers intentionally avoided any superfluous gimmickry here. Like the up!, the space up! is characterized by a fully new harmony between technical layout on the one hand and emotional design on the other.
The clever space concept of the space up! is largely due to its engine layout. The environmentally friendly gasoline, diesel and electric drives of the future up! family are located – as they were at one time on the Beetle and the Bulli – in the rear. An abbreviated comparison: The four-door space up! is exactly 23 centimeters longer and four centimeters taller than the up! shown at the IAA in Frankfurt.
“The world premiere of the up! at the IAA in Frankfurt served as an initial test to see how the concept of our New Small Family would be received in Europe. And the results of this test were more than favorable,” says Dr. Ulrich Hackenberg, Head of Technical Development. Walter de Silva, Chief Designer of the Volkswagen Group, underscores this assessment: “In formal design terms, one can see that the space up! is fun and at the same time offers maximum space on the smallest of platforms. Our New Small Family brings a smile back to the road.”

Hoping for a stronger press release on this… all I hope for is a honest, for the customer/enthusiast interest conclusion. I hope the boards do not turn this into a mess.
Wolfsburg, 23 October 2007 - The Board of Management of Volkswagen Aktiengesellschaft has acknowledged the ruling of the Court of Justice of the European Communities concerning the Volkswagen Law. According to this judgment, the Volkswagen Law restricts the free movement of capital.
Volkswagen will thoroughly examine the ruling and possible consequences for the Company, particularly with regard to the impact on the Articles of Association. The Board of Management has always emphasized that its actions are oriented to the sustainable development of the Company while giving appropriate consideration to the interests of all stakeholders.
The Board of Management is of the opinion that the shareholdings of Porsche AG and the State of Lower Saxony form a solid basis for the continuation of the successful work so far.

and so it begins… I just hope this is the right thing to do.

Luxembourg/Stuttgart. Dr. Ing. h.c. F. Porsche AG, Stuttgart, welcomes the judgement of the European Court of Justice (ECJ) in Luxembourg according to which the limitation of voting rights to a maximum of 20 percent by the Volkswagen Act is incompatible with EU law. „With a voting interest of just above 30 percent in Volkswagen we obviously have a high interest in exercising our voting rights in full,“ said Dr. Wendelin Wiedeking, Chief Executive Officer of Porsche in a first reaction to the ruling.
The ECJ further ruled that the right granted to the Federal Republic of Germany and the Land of Lower Saxony by the Volkswagen Act to each appoint two members to the supervisory board of Volkswagen as long as they hold more than one share in Volkswagen also violates EU law. As a result, in the future the generally applicable statutory rules will apply to Volkswagen, according to which the shareholders’ representatives in the supervisory board are elected by the General Meeting.

Finally got around to installing replacement bushings on the rear engine mount. A few weeks ago I was completing an oil change and I always use this time to inspect the car underneath. Well I noticed two bushings bulging out a bit. I pulled apart the mount and low and behold, they were ripped/split. I sent an email to VF-Engineering, purchased a kit of 4.
Bad pic from phone
I had a strong drive into work this morning and it had smoothed out a ton. Overtime, as they ripped, I got used to the vibration becoming more pronounced. A lot of people complain about the vibrations right off the bat, which I found not to be true. The reason for this is that the silicone bushings are stiffer than that of the OEM ones. This directs your engines power to the wheels as well as the body.
Wither way, the cars feels better now!

Secures 2nd in ALMS Drivers’ and Team Championships
Huge congrats to the team and the effort in yesterdays final from Laguna Seca. Unfortunately it didn’t go the Lizard’s way and all Risi had to do was sit in and wait. They had no reason to bring it until 70% of the race was finished.
Tafel Racing and Rahal Letterman Racing finished out the podiums with 2nd and 3rd.

October 20, 2007 — Salinas, California — The Flying Lizard No. 45 Porsche finished fourth in today’s season finale at Laguna Seca. This finish secured second place in the drivers’ championship for Johannes van Overbeek and Joerg Bergmeister in the No. 45 Porsche, and second for the Flying Lizards in the team championship. In the No. 44 Porsche, teammates Seth Neiman, Darren Law, and Lonnie Pechnik finished seventh in GT2. For details on the race, visit the Flying Lizard race blog.
“Of course it can be disappointing to finish second when you are so close to victory, but I know that every Flying Lizard team member is extremely proud of our peformance this year. We had some good luck combined with a lot of setbacks, but we kept bringing the fight to the impressively quick No. 62 Risi Ferrari throughout the season. Thank you to the entire team for your dedication and hard work this year.”
Next week, the Flying Lizard team will head back to their shop in Sonoma, California, to begin prep for the 2008 season. The team will announce more details later in the year. Thank you to our family, friends and fans for all of your support in 2007.

As I said earlier, the final American Le Mans race from Laguna Seca was amazing! Porsche brought it once again and if it wasn’t for the long final straight, Audi may have come up short. It was the brute power and torque that gave it the overall win.
Hats off to Porsche this year and the many wins!

Porsche und Penske Racing Team 2007
Stuttgart. With a double class victory at the season final in Laguna Seca/California Porsche crowned its most successful season in the American Le Mans Series. In a gripping four hour race with many lead changes, Timo Bernhard (Germany) and Romain Dumas (France), who had already secured the drivers title two weeks ago in Road Atlanta, brought their number 7 RS Spyder across the finish line first in the LMP2 class.
In the second Penske Racing RS Spyder with the starting number 6, title defender Sascha Maassen (Germany) and Ryan Briscoe (Australia) made the Porsche success perfect at the close of the season. In the fight for the pole position yesterday Maassen gave the over 200 hp more powerful LMP1 class Audi R10 rivals no chance and even improved on the old lap record by a sensational 3.5 seconds.

If you had a chance to catch the race live, it was truly one of the best not only in 2007 but a good number of years past. You thought Petit Le Mans was on the edge of your seat… It was an excellent way to end the American Le Mans season!

INGOLSTADT, Germany - Dindo Capello (Italy) and Allan McNish (Scotland) recorded Audi’s fourth outright American Le Mans Series victory with the revolutionary near 650 hp R10 TDI in this year’s 12-race series when the 2007 LM P1 champions won an exciting four-hour ALMS finale at Laguna Seca (US state of California) for a second consecutive year.

Their #1 Audi started from fifth on the 30-car grid and averaged 87.755mph around the sweeping 2.238 mile track, featuring the legendary Corkscrew section, to finish a mere 0.410secs ahead of the second-placed #7 Porsche after a thrilling, race-long battle with both LM P2 Porsches. It marked the 21st consecutive category win for the revolutionary Audi R10 TDI which remains unbeaten in the LM P1 class since its debut in March 2006.
The “sister” Audi R10 TDI driven by Marco Werner (Germany) and Mike “Rocky” Rockenfeller (Germany), started seventh and went on to finish third overall (2nd LM P1) – 21secs behind the winning Audi. The #2 Audi required a front nose change after contact with another car when running third overall with 90mins to run. Audi’s win marked the German manufacturer’s seventh overall Laguna victory since 2000.ALMS, American Le Mans, Laguna Seca, Dindo Capello, Allan McNish, Audi R10 TDI, Marco Werner, Mike Rockenfeller, oneighturbo
I was just checking out the qualifying images from Speed World Challenge Touring Car results and saw that Christian Miller’s Volkswagen Jetta back in the game! However, I did not see Jim Osborn’s VW Jetta TDI!
Christian Miller / 034 Motorsports placed 19th with a 1:38.174 to Pobst’s 1:35:857.
Hope to see you more in 2008!

Excellent work from Randy! I finally met him and had a good conversation with at Road Atlanta. Class act and a great year for him in both World Challenge entries! Here’s to 2008 and maybe back in the Audi’s

Pobst swept both poles at Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca (Weber image).
MONTEREY, Calif. (Oct. 20, 2007) - Current Championship leader Randy Pobst, of Gainesville, Ga., captured the pole for Round Ten of the SCCA Pro Racing SPEED World Challenge Championship minutes after collecting the SCCA SPEED Touring Car Pole at Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca. Andy Pilgrim, of Boca Raton, Fla., will start second.
Preventing a Cadillac clinch of the SCCA SPEED GT Manufacturers’ Championship Presented by RACER and giving himself another five points in his Drivers” Championship lead, Pobst recovered from a first lap slide to put the No. 22 K-PAX Racing LLC/Jim Haughey Porsche 911 GT-3 on pole. Just after getting out of his pole-winning Mazda SCCA SPEED Touring Car, Pobst collected his 22nd-career pole with a lap of 1:29.707 (89.812 mph) around the 11-turn, 2.238-mile road course. He now needs to finish third or better to win the 2007 Drivers’ Championship, regardless of what his rivals do.
