Automaker to Offset Carbon Emissions of Projected Consumer Use
WASHINGTON, Aug. 30 /PRNewswire/ — Carbonfund.org today announced a

2, 2008, every vehicle sold by Volkswagen will have its carbon emissions
offset for the first year of ownership.

This one has been flyin across the www! I’m not sure what to think of it. If anything it would be a convergance of stuff on the inside. We’ve seen the news about Google and VW interfaces. We know Apple and Google have been scratchin each others backs these days.
Everyone and their grandmother makes and iPod HU (Kenwood, Alpine etc) , adapters from Belkin etc., so I think it would be a seamless intergration of the iPhone, iPod, MacBook or mini.. maybe a version OSX that runs the cars diagnostics. Who knows.
Apple does not need to enter VW’s auto designs. However, the new iMac is damn nice and goes quite well with my New Beetle!
According to a popular Apple rumors site, AppleInsider.
It’s rumored that VW chief executive Martin Winterkorn sat down with Steve Jobs recently to discuss the possibility of a new VW that would “include several Apple tie-ins” in an attempt to target a younger market.
I’m not going to get my hopes up. AppleInsider says that “Readers may want to take this one with a bag of rock salt”, and I’d have to heartily agree on that. But if Apple where to team up with an automaker, seemingly like minded VW might make the best fit. No matter what, any dealings with Steve Jobs and/or Apple can do nothing but good for VW, as it’s been noted several times that they struggle to understand the American market. Working Jobs, who seems to be a modern day King Midus, could help VW speak our language.

INGOLSTADT, Germany - In its design, the new A4 reveals its sporty, progressive character: taut and dynamic in its outlines, it speaks the language of technical perfection. With an overall length of 185.2 inches, the saloon has a substantial, powerful road stance and offers its occupants ample space in an interior full of light. The workmanship is typical of an Audi – quality with no compromises. The controls can be backed by the extra refinement of innovative assistance and multimedia systems. In the safety area, the brand with the four-ring emblem sets new standards: the coordinated action of the airbags and front seat belt force limiters protects the occupants even more effectively.

When compared with the previous model, the A4 has new, sporty proportions. The front body overhang has been drastically shortened; the bonnet and wheelbase are both longer than before. In the driveline, the differential has changed places with the clutch (or torque converter), making it possible to move the front axle forward by 6.1 inches. This innovative solution ensures ideal axle-load distribution. The new A4 is the sportiest saloon in the midsize car category: agile, light and precise to control. Its dynamic suspension is a totally new design, with most of its components made from weight-saving aluminum.
