Flying Lizard 2nd and 4th at St. Pete

Great job guys! Unfortunately, you couldn’t give it back to the Rizi Ferarri but Long Beach is next! ;)

Second Consecutive Podium Finish

March 31, 2007 — St. Petersburg, Florida — In a chaotic race with five yellow flags in two hours, the Lizards came through unscathed to finish second and fourth in GT2 out of the 10-car field at today’s Acura Sports Car Challenge of St. Petersburg. The walls of the downtown street course claimed more than a few cars during today’s two hour and 45 minute race, with two of the leading GT2 cars being taken out late in the race. In one serious incident, the No. 31 Petersen/White Lightning Ferrari made heavy contact with the driver’s side wall, catching fire in the aftermath. Driver Thomas Enge was removed from the car and quickly transported to the local medical center, where he was reported to be recovering.

Audi R10 TDI remains undefeated

The R10’s main purpose in life is the 24hrs of Le Mans. 24 hours on a gorgeous smooth course where horsepower and torque reign! Oh and now TDI technology!

Well St. Pete was a 2hr 45min race. 14 tight turns. Cement walls all the way around.

(L to R) Emanuele Pirro, Marco Werner, Dindo Capello, and Allan McNish on the podium

The outstanding series of victories of the Audi R10 TDI continues: Dindo Capello/Allan McNish (Italy/Scotland) and Emanuele Pirro/Marco Werner (Italy/Germany) claimed an unexpected 1-2 victory for Audi in a turbulent and exciting race in St. Petersburg. This proved that the Le Mans sports car is capable of also winning on a “city” street course.
