Weather change in the Eifel: now with entirely dry conditions and with increasing temperatures, Heinz-Harald Frentzen set the fastest time in the second test of the DTM on Friday afternoon with his Audi A4 DTM. The driver from Mönchengladbach lapped the 3.629 kilometres long Nürburgring sprint circuit in 1:24.899 minutes. With the 2005-spec AMG-Mercedes C-Class, Alexandros Margaritis confirmed his strong showing in the first test session and drove the second fastest time behind Frentzen in the afternoon. The driver from Bonn was only 0.012 seconds down. Third place was occupied by Jamie Green with the fastest current AMG-Mercedes C-Class.

Tom Kristensen, who was second in the morning session, was now only sixth behind points leader Bernd Schneider in fourth and Stefan Mücke in fifth place. Norisring-winner Bruno Spengler was seventh after the second session, followed by his fellow-Mercedes-driver Mika Häkkinen. Martin Tomczyk and Frank Stippler completed the top 10.After 41 laps, DTM novice Nicolas Kiesa was not only the fastest driver with a 2004-spec car, but also the most prolific driver of the entire field.

After 90 minutes, he was less than one second slower than Frentzen’s fastest time and occupied 16th place. On his first outing in the DTM, Kiesa completed a total of 297.578 kilometres on Friday
