TT Lounge Microsite

Check it, the new TT Lounge micro is up!

Earlier today, Audi AG added a new microsite to its world website at www.Audi.com. The ‘TT Lounge’ offered several new pieces of information about the second generation Audi sportscar.

Most notably, the coupe version of the car will debut on April 6, live online via the TT Lounge microsite. Between now and that time, visitors to the site can download a PC-only screensaver, order downloads to their cell phones, sign up for an electronic newsletter offering the latest news about the TT and enter a contest to take part in a TT driving experience.

One aspect of the microsite is a sneak peek front image of the car. Audi makes it difficult to see much of the car, and impossible to see it all in one view in their FLASH presentation, though the above photograph shows an interpretation of the image piece-mailed together.

Combine this photo with last January’s initial photos of a barely disguised TT Coupe and Roadster caught in winter testing were published in automotive news outlets including this one, and you can get a pretty good idea of what the new car will look like.

STaSIS Engineering to Campaign Three Cars in 2006

STaSIS Engineering has announced that they will campaign three Audi A4 racecars for all 10 rounds of the 2006 SCCA Pro Racing SPEED World Challenge Touring Car Championship.

Coming off a season-ending win at Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca in 2005, STaSIS representatives said that the team’s 2006 goals are championship driven, with three cars in its lineup for the entire year, plus having great confidence in its equipment and abilities.

The STaSIS driver lineup includes Fast Freddy Baker returning to again compete in the Audi A4. Baker who has a 70% podium rate in various series from Trans Am to World Challenge is sure to make the year exciting. Alongside Baker will be rookie, Jeff Courtney of Slinger, WI. Courtney recently won the 2005 championship in the Panoz Racing series. STaSIS’ third driver will be announced shortly.

“The level of competition will be strong, and we have stepped up our program in every way to ensure that we are contenders for the top spot on the podium,” STaSIS Owner Paul Lambert said. “We have added new, talented crew members to the fold, building on our team from last year. Aiding in our quest for success, our technical partners, Mahle Powertrain (formerly Cosworth Technologies), Alcon and Ohlins are all on board again with us. We are anticipating a great season in 2006.”

“We are extremely pleased with our driver lineup for the up coming 2006 season,” commented Team Manager Ben Bauer. “Freddy is a very important part of our plans for a successful 2006 campaign, his statistics speak for themselves. Out of 299 races, Freddy has 146 wins, 36 second places and 28 third places. He has competed with and beat some of the biggest names in racing, such as Peter Cunningham, Michael Galati and Bobby Archer. Additionally, we are excited about the addition of Jeff Courtney to the team; he tested very well in our cars and has built an impressive record in a very short time”

STaSIS will begin the 2006 SPEED World Challenge Touring Car season March 15-17 at Sebring International Raceway, where the team will run a new Audi A4 alongside two other Audi A4’s that ran last season at both Sebring and St. Petersburg .

Those two previously-run cars will be replaced at the May 19-21 Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course event, where STaSIS will debut two 2006 Audi A4 racecars. All STaSIS cars will be powered by the Mahle 1.8T engine that powered their race win at Laguna Seca in 2005.

EDAG Biwak at the 2006 Geneva Motor Show

Holy hell, I’m speechless! I’ve seen the concept drawings already and wasn’t moved by them, well in the good way.

This thing is hideous and it’s destroyed the lasting design of the beetle. Round for a reason!

World Premiere of the Concept Car “EDAG Biwak” at the 2006 Geneva Motor Show

At this year’s Motor Show in Geneva, EDAG Engineering + Design AG will be exhibiting two exceptional vehicle concepts which will reinforce the company’s reputation as an innovative and creative partner to the international motor vehicle industry. As a world premiere, the globally active company will be presenting the “EDAG Biwak”, a sensational derivative concept based on the New Beetle.

From styling through to testing various manufacturing scenarios, it took the EDAG stylists and engineers just three months to complete implementation of the concept car, and prepare it as a business case. With the hard top version of the Pontiac Solstice, first presented at the Detroit Motor Show in January 2006, EDAG – global engineering partner to the automotive industry – is exhibiting yet another practicable concept.
