Highcroft Racing has unveiled its new Honda Performance Development ARX-01e LMP1 machine – the new car which the back-to-back American Le Mans Series champions will take into battle at next week’s Mobil 1 Twelve Hours of Sebring.
More shots are coming in from Sebring testing on the Monday and Tuesday after the race. The big news so far is that Audi had a crash with the new R15 plus. Although this shot is not the greatest it does tell a story of what might have been… We’re not saying Audi would have won but this leaves a lot of questions and/or arguments which Peter of Autoextremist.com has brought up on his wonderful piece.
Although, we don’t agree parts, we do feel the pain as a spectator and understand the arguments presented. Well said Peter!
The Audi team was nowhere to be found at Sebring during the race week for the classic 12 Hour endurance race. Oh, they were in Florida alright – rested and ready, as a matter of fact – as they had tested at Homestead Miami Speedway the previous week. And they were also going to participate in two days of testing at Sebring Monday and Tuesday (the 22nd & 23rd) of this week with Patron-Highcroft Racing, Corvette Racing and the Sebring-winning Peugeot team.
A successful start to the American Le Mans Series season for Porsche: At the Sebring 12 hour race, Porsche clinched two victories with the Porsche RS Spyder in the sports prototype LMP2 class and the Porsche 911 GT3 RSR in the environmental classification, the Michelin Green X Challenge. The sports car from Weissach proved to be the vehicle that demonstrated the best overall efficiency and fuel consumption at the long distance classic in Florida. (continue reading…)
The 2010 12 Hours of Sebring marks the 50th anniversary of Hans Herrmann’s victory at the legendary event in his 1960 Porsche RS 60. This year, the pair of Flying Lizard Porsche GT3 RSRs are on hand to defend their 2009 championship title.
Jörg Bergmeister and Patrick Long, both Porsche factory drivers, discuss what its like to race at Sebring and to be part the Porsche driver legacy. It was a close battle in GT2 last year between the Lizards and Corvette Racing, making this year all that more important.
*#90 Rahal Letterman BMW failed post-qualification technical inspection and will start from the back of the grid, moving the No. 45 up to the pole.

The Porsche 911 GT3 RSR racers take up the 12 hour race in Sebring from good starting positions. During qualifying for the long distance classic in Florida, which kicks off the 2010 American Le Mans season on Saturday, Porsche works driver Joerg Bergmeister posted the second quickest time. If tomorrow’s Mobil 1 Twelve Hours of Sebring presented by Fresh From Florida is anything like today’s qualifying session for the LMP2 pole position, Muscle Milk Team CytoSport is in for quite the battle to the finish.
The top three LMP2 cars registered times within two tenths of a second with Muscle Milk Team CytoSport placing second in class and sixth overall on the grid, only five hundredths of a second behind the first place LMP2 car. (continue reading…)
