  • Technological breakthrough for the 1-litre fuel consumption car: International Motor Show (IAA), Volkswagen is presenting the concept of the future L1 in a world premiere that points the way toward the production version. The full hybrid vehicle weighs just 380 kilograms thanks to its carbon-fibre reinforced body (CFRB). With a combined fuel consumption figure of 1.38 litres of diesel per 100 kilometres, this extremely aerodynamic (Cd 0.195!) Volkswagen suitable for everyday use is intended to become the most fuel-efficient automobile in the world. CO2 emissions of the 160 km/h L1 are similarly low at 36 g/km.

    VW 1L two-seat concept for Frankfurt gets early unveiling in German paper

    Volkswagen’s latest vision of a two-seat car that gets 238 mpg (1 liter per 100 kilometers) is set for a debut at Frankfurt this week. But photos of the concept have been published in Germany.

    VW’s L1 concept makes extensive use of carbon-fiber material to keep the vehicle weight at 1,100 pounds, about one-third the curb weight of a VW Rabbit, according to German national newspaper Bild. It posted information and photos of the car on its Web site on Sunday.

    Volkswagen presents the world’s first 1-litre car

    Here is the second part in regard to the news about Volkswagen launching the 1-litre in 2010. Since the 1-litre was introduced in 2002, this post gives you all the details from exterior design/engineering to engine, lighting and cockpit details. Even during the development of the first 3-litre car, which was launched on the market in the summer of 1999 and has since sold more than 22 000 units, the objective was to successfully put the most economical series-production vehicle ever on the market at an acceptable price.     Volkswagen 1-litre car: Condensed high-tech perfection

    With a good amount of chatter out there in regard to Volkswagen offering the 1-litre in 2010, we wanted to give you another look at it. Volkswagen presented the 1-litre car in April of 2002. Do the math and is was just over 6 years ago… The timing would be about right in but we have not seen anything solid coming from VW. The timing would be perfect in todays environmental issues and here in the States as we look for alternative fuel solutions.

    We love this car. From its exterior design down to the engineering that gives it the amazing mileage. We want this car. We do not think we will see it in 2010. It may come out in the form of an engine offering, but again, what will the weight of the car be?
